Dear Franklin Telford Open Players,

It's nearly here! Thank you for choosing to participate in the tournament on 15th and 16th March at The Telford TENNIS Centre TF2 7AB.

Schedule: Please check your entries & the schedule which will be posted on the website under 'events' very shortly.  Email queries to nigel@wedotennis.co.uk before 13:00 on Wednesday 12th March.  Any queries over the schedule need to be resolved before we reach the weekend. A paper copy of your category's schedule will be available on the day. 

Arrangements for the weekend:

Parking: Free next the Centre & overflow carpark

Finding Us: Telford Tennis Centre, Behind Oakengates Leisure Centre, New Road, Wrockwardine Wood, Telford, TF2 7AB

When you drive in you will see the Oakengates Leisure Centre Reception, please head to the right of this building and follow the road round to the tennis centre which is at the back. You will see the Outdoor Tennis Courts and our reception area is easily found at the front.

Arrival & Register: Any time from 09:00 on Saturday & Sunday. Please collect your name badge amd wear at all times. Go to the main hall for free play warm up on the courts. Please rotate after 10/15 minutes to allow everyone to warm up. We will gather you together before the tournament commences at 10am. 

Refreshments/ Housekeeping: 

There is no 'cafe' at the Tennis Centre. 

There is a water dispenser along the main ground floor corridor. There will be some free refreshments in the players dining room upstairs and there are vending machines for drinks and snacks in the foyer.  

Please eat either on the viewing balcony, foyer or dining room away from the playing courts. Belongings can be put in an open bag area in the hall. 

The nearest supermarket is Asda a couple of miles in the car and you can walk over the road to a small 'One stop' shop. 

Shop: Pickleball Complete and Rokne are attending with a range of demo paddles & items to sell.

Format: Round robin in your group. 20 minutes are allocated for each match. 5 minutes pre-match warm game to 11 (win by 1) normal pickleball scoring. NO-ONE is immediately knocked out after the group stage so be available to play your last matches which could be up until 6pm.

Recording Scores: Before you start play make sure one of the teams collects the board from the organiser desk and takes to the court. Sign off the match and bring the board back to organiser desk. Group rank is decided by; Wins, Head to Head, Points scored, Points Conceded, Coin Toss. Players who reach semi finals MUST have registered with DUPR and linked their account to Pickleball Central UK prior to playing their matches. We will check this.

Keeping to the Schedule:

1. Only walk onto a court you are scheduled to play on. Anyone occupying a scheduled court to knock up or play a rec game is ruining the day for others as this will prevent the schedule from being completed. 

2. Knocking up is limited to 5 minutes from the game’s scheduled start time, 

3. If either player from a team is not on court within a reasonable time determind by the organisers that team will have to forfeit the match. If a player arrives late to a match, they forfeit their right to a knock up.

4.  All disputes come to the organiser's table.

5. Once a game is concluded, the court belongs to the players scheduled on next. If you want extra knocking up time, be at your allocated court several minutes before your game is due to start. Don’t use the neighbouring court to knock up, that belongs to the players scheduled on it.

Courtesy: considerate behaviour is vital for everyone to enjoy the day. Please be considerate that other games will always need the court after your game. At the end of each day please hand in your name badge!
