As everyone is becoming more confident and hitting balls harder and faster (great in some gameplay strategies) there is the risk of eye injuries, not only from balls on your own court but also stray flying balls from other courts. This week already we have had TWO incidents at Sports Village, always accidental, and thankfully not severe. (As a member of PBC UK we have got your covered by insurance but this is ONLY for loss of an eye, and šš½ this never happens š±)
With this in mind I would STRONGLY encourage EVERYONE to please purchase a pair of clear safety glasses for sport. There are many to choose from on Amazon for example, from around £7 plus - ask members who have some already for recommendations (Bolle, Riley, Kitchen Blockers dont have actual lenses). Im not making it mandatory as yet, but THIS MAY CHANGE in the coming months.
Eye protection is however already MANDATORY when playing at The new ACADEMY as we use the harder tournament X40 Franklin balls to match the surface.
Thanks everyone, let's continue to pickle safely ā¤ļø
