Look at the photo of Lyn and Matt below...who should take this ball? Both look in a good position...the 'general' answer is that it if you are both the same distance laterally from the ball it depends on the direction the ball has COME FROM...so the answer is that whoever is DIAGONAL from where the ball originated should take this ball (rather than someone's forehand/backhand as the deciding factor). So we can't tell just from this photo who should take it as we cant see the direction it came from! (Sorry was a trick question 😂) Always COMMUNICATE with your partner if a ball comes and you are unsure who might take it...a simple 'yours' or 'mine' prevents a lot of lost rallies.
