Frequently asked questions

What time will the tournament start/finish each day?

Tournament play is planned to start at 10:00am each day and we anticipate will be finished by 6pm. The actual finish time will be dependent on the number of players registered for the events and how long it will take to play all the matches. Until we have closed registration, we cannot be more precise. If it is any different from the above we will let you know. Please make sure you are available for all-day play if necessary.

What if I don't have a partner?

You are not able to submit a registration form for any of the doubles categories unless you have a partner agreed. However you may contact the tournament director to see if any members of Pickleball Central UK are also looking for a partner using the 'contact us' page on this website.

What happens after I have registered and paid?
You will receive a confirmation email. If you don't receive an email please contact us.

Why aren't there age categories?

We wanted to allow players to choose who they play with according to skill rather than age for this tournament. We hope this gives flexibility to partnerships and provides a different tournament for everyone.

If I don't have an official rating can I still enter?

Yes you can self rate and enter under that skill level. If you do have an official DUPR rating please do not enter at a lower rating level than you are at the time of entry. The tournament directors reserve the right to merge categories together dependent on entries, to move competitors up or down categories in line with their DUPR  and to substitute players if necessary to enable matches to take place and to ensure a fair tournament.

Do I have to register with DUPR?

No you don't have to register with DUPR but if you play in any semi final matches, finals or bronze medal matches you are required to be registered with DUPR and link your account to Pickleball Central UK so that the matches can be recorded. This is a condition of playing in the semi finals.

I may need to withdraw from the tournament how do I do this / will I get a refund?
Category fees are refundable up until the registration close date except the registration fee itself which is non-refundable. We expect that you will inform your partner that you are now unable to play. Any substutions can be made if the player fulfills the requirements of gender and skill. The replacement player must fill in the 'contact us' page to arrange with the tournament director how to register and pay.

What happens if someone drops out before the tournament?

If someone withdraws by removing themselves from an event before the registration closing date and processes a partial refund, the existing partner will be removed from the player and will be notified by email that their former partner has withdrawn. They will need to find a new partner.

Can I enter more than one category in the same day?
Unfortunately not, as the events are on the same day, scheduling of matches would not be possible.

I have registered but I have not received a confirmation email?
If you dont receive an email please check your junk/spam. If you still don't find it, let us know using the 'contact us' page of this website.

How many games will I play per event?
The number of games you will play depends on how many teams are in your event. We will endeavour to schedule matches so you play as much as possible given courts and time constraints. We hope you have a lot of fun at this tournament, and to play against combinations of teams that you may not have played before!
